Our journey as an engineering company began with a vision to innovate and build a sustainable future. We evolved into a leader in engineering services, dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of our clients while driving industry advancements. Howard Humphreys’ roots go back to London UK, where in 1899, the original owners first set up their practice. Howard Humphreys first registered their local practice in the 1930s and since then have been involved in several major projects in the region which have been successfully engineered and commissioned. In the 1980’s Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) acquired Howard Humphreys. At the end of 1999, Howard Humphreys Kenya Limited a KBR company in Kenya transferred delivery of all its on-going projects in East Africa to Howard Humphreys (East Africa) Limited. Howard Humphreys (East Africa) Limited, a fully owned Kenyan business, was established under a Management Buyout of the on-going projects by senior staff. In January 2007 Howard Humphreys (Tanzania) Limited a KBR company was acquired by Howard Humphreys (East Africa) Limited from KBR. In 2016 WS Atkins International Limited acquire Howard Humphreys leading to the birth of Atkins Consulting Engineers Limited. On 16 July 2021, the management team in Kenya concluded a share purchase agreement to take over Atkins Consulting Engineers Limited in Kenya. The name of the company has changed to Howard Humphreys (East Africa) Limited which is 100% locally owned.
2021
In July 2021, following a management buyout, Howard Humphreys (East Africa) Limited reverted to local ownership with majority shareholding by Kenyan Engineers registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya.
2016
WS Atkins International Limited which is one of the largest engineering consultancies in the UK, the largest multidisciplinary consultancy in Europe and one of the largest design firms in the world acquired Howard Humphreys in 2016.
1999
