Howard Humphreys Fellowship Program Launch
In a world where change is constant and technology continues to accelerate, innovation has become a vital driver of business sustainability and long-term success. On May 9th, 2025, Howard Humphreys officially launched the Howard Humphreys Fellowship Program, a bold initiative developed by the iHub Team, to serve as an incubator for pioneering ideas that align with our mission to deliver excellence in engineering, advisory and project management solutions, while enhancing operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
” As infrastructure project needs evolve and digital transformation shapes the future of engineering, there is a growing demand for new ways of thinking. “

The Fellowship Program responds to this shift by creating a dedicated space within our organization to explore innovation, empowering staff to experiment with ideas that address real project challenges and open up new possibilities for smarter, more agile delivery while enhancing our delivery models to satisfy project requirements.
The Fellowship Program is an initiative to recognize and reward talent by introducing a structured process for identifying, refining, and scaling impactful concepts. From early ideation to implementation, the Fellowship Program is designed to support innovation that directly enhances our project delivery using digital technologies. It focuses on turning ideas into tangible improvements, enabling us to:
- Deliver within efficient project timelines
- Apply data-informed decision-making
- Integrate digitally enhanced workflows
- Deliver cost-effective and scalable solutions
- Advance sustainable and future-ready infrastructure
- Meet and exceed our client’s expectations
By encouraging practical innovation at every level of the organization, the program ensures that the solutions we offer are not only robust and well-engineered, but also adaptive, forward-looking, and aligned with the changing needs of the communities and clients we serve.
The Howard Humphreys Fellowship Program reflects our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, technical excellence, and meaningful impact. It is one of the ways we are deepening our capacity to provide high-quality, relevant services while reinforcing our role as a trusted, forward-thinking engineering partner across East Africa.
This inaugural cohort of the Howard Humphreys Fellowship Program recognized three outstanding innovators whose ideas embody the program’s commitment to practical, forward-looking solutions.
Dennis Riungu and Maureen Mwaura presented a compelling sprint on the use of advanced visualization tools to enhance stakeholder engagement in infrastructure projects. Their work demonstrated how immersive technology can bridge the gap between technical design and public understanding.
John Chepkwony led a sprint focused on the simulation and convertion of meteorological data files, with unprecedented efficiency and flexibility, in the analysis of solar energy systems. This was geared towards, exploring sustainable energy solutions that support more resilient and environmentally responsible infrastructure.
These contributions reflect the spirit of the Howard Humphreys Fellowship Program empowering individuals to explore ideas that directly improve how we serve our clients and respond to evolving industry needs.
As we continue to invest in innovation through initiatives like the Fellowship Program, our goal remains clear to deliver engineering and management solutions that are not only effective, but also adaptive, client-focused, and aligned with the future of infrastructure in Kenya and East Africa. The ideas explored in this first cohort mark just the beginning of a long-term commitment to rethinking how we build and who we build for.
