Oyugis Water Supply & Sanitation Project

The Project entailed water supply and sanitation interventions in the towns of Oyugis and adjoining urban centers.

The scope of work included:
• Source Works- Construction of a new Run-of-River Intake Works at River Awach Kasipul
• Raw Water Main -Construction from Intake Works to Water Treatment Works
• Water Treatment Works -Construction of a new conventional Water Treatment Works at the existing Atemo water treatment site and comprising of:
Treated Water Main,Service Tank, Water Distribution System,Last Mile Consumer Connectivity, Water Kiosks, Ablution Blocks
• Construction of an Office Building for use by HOMAWASCO Scheme Manager at the end of Contract Period
• Rehabilitation of the existing Oyugis Water Supply System
The projects aimed to increase clean water availability for the residents of Oyugis town. This improved access will go a long away to protect the community from water borne diseases and reduce the time spent by locals in drawing untreated water from wells, rivers, and the lake.
